Why Grace Groups?
J.I.Packer says this helpfully "We should not think of our fellowship as a spiritual luxury, an optional addition to the exercises of private devotions. Fellowship is one of the great words of the New Testament: it denotes something that is vital to a Christian’s spiritual health, and central to the Church’s true life…The Church will flourish and Christians will be strong only when there is fellowship." (J.I. Packer, God’s Words)
The Word of God calls us to be intimately involved with members of His church (fellowship). We do this not only by gathering each Sunday for worship, but also by intentionally meeting together during the week.
We know that growth in the Christian life and our ongoing progressive sanctification is experienced in the context of a loving, caring fellowship. The opposite is also true, isolation can hinder our spiritual growth.
In Grace Croups you are committing to share your life with other Christ-followers or people exploring the claims of Christ. You will meet together for Christ-centered discussion and prayer, but you’ll also find yourself sharing meals together, caring for one another in times of need, and developing genuine friendships with the members of your group.
With that in mind, we provide Grace Groups that give us the encouragement, care, and meaningful accountability that helps us grow and keeps us from drifting (Heb 3:12-13).
Grace Groups actually help us to keep applying the Gospel to our every day lives. Active involvement enables us to see the power of the Gospel transforming lives as we study the Word and share our lives with others. At GCMB our Grace Groups are focused on conversations around the sermon we will have herad the Sunday prior. Our goal is to lear how to live what we have learned.
Our Grace Groups run in 10-11 week segments. We alternate between having Grace Groups or Men's/Women's Bible Studies. (10-11 weeks of Grace Groups then 10-11 weeks of Men's & Women's Bible Study.)
